Overview

Pivoting from a tool-heavy dashboard to a chat-led creative canvas. Through user research, I identified how the product strategy and design for a new workflow make it easier to generate, connect, and refine creative image and video outputs in one place.

The problem I wanted to solve

AI creators and brands were switching between multiple platforms and purchasing multiple subscriptions to access the multiple models they needed. Our bundle brought these capabilities together under one platform and one subscription.

But consolidating tools was only the first step. As the product grew, I began noticing a different problem, which is related to UX was becoming harder to navigate, even though the tools themselves were now easier to access.

I needed to rethink not just where the tools lived, but how people worked with them.

Key Design Decisions

Chat-led creation inside Canvas. Replaced tool-first navigation with a familiar chat interface, letting users describe what they want to create, and direct tool call from the chat with '@'.

An open canvas. Brought prompts, reference images, and generated outputs into one workspace to support seamless iteration and AI generation of images and videos.

Workflow continuity. Added access to chat history of generated assets, and character references in one Canvas to help users build on previous work.
